1. Introduction for DDZY482 single-phase keypad prepayment meter
1.1 Summary of DDZY482 single-phase keypad prepayment meter
1.1.1 Structure

DDZY482 Single-phase keypad prepayment energy meter 
1.1.2 Main Application
DDZY482 is an active energy-metering instrument, using digital media as the data exchange medium. User will load the pre-purchased kWh, with settlement in terms of kWh. This meter is equipped with digital keypad interface, which is used for active energy metering & prepayment controlling. Besides the meter also has Infrared communication, RS485 or RS232 communication, metering element, real time clock unit, load control switch and other auxiliaries.

1.1.4 Main functions
When the residual energy is 0 or the allowable overdraft that both sides agreed, this meter will send out   power-off signal to have load switch cut off power, Mechanical life is at least 3,000 cycles. The power will be recovered automatically after inputting new purchased energy amount. 
With self-test function 
With event recording function (including cover-opening event, tamper event and power failure event) 
1.1.5 Main features
Prepayment mode of power consumption that is paying first, consuming later 
DDZY482 model is a single-phase keypad prepayment energy meter using kWh as settlement mode. User purchases energy amount and meter will decrease the residual energy amount gradually. When the residual quantity is zero, meter will cut off power supply. When the residual energy is 0 or the allowable overdraft that both sides agreed, this meter will send out power-off signal to have load switch cut off power. The power will be recovered automatically after inputting new purchased energy amount.
This meter adopts STS algorithm(NRS 009-6-7,NRS 009-6-8, NRS 009-6-9)and a complete safety management system which is highly secured, and completely compatible with other STS certified systems.

This meter is tested, tested and accepted fully in accordance with the Technical Requirements of Single-phase Keypad Prepayment Energy Meter ofShenzhen Hexcell Electronics Technology Co., Ltd..These are the basic requirements based on IEC62053-21 Static Active Energy Watt-hour Meter (Class 1 and 2) – Special Requirements, and GB/T17215-2008 Alternating Current Static Active Energy Meter (Class 1 and 2), and have been considered as enterprise standard with higher technical index due to its incorporating the industry characters.

1.2.8 Active check output of meter
This meter is equipped with dedicated pulse indicator (LED located on the meter’ nameplate) for testing active energy and pulse output terminal (located on the connection terminal) used for the photoelectricity isolation. In order to ensure the accuracy of meter when metering the active energy, for different current test points the quantity of pulse sampled for testing shall increase step by step with increment of the test current, and be properly selected from 1 to 8. The active energy pulse is output at rate expressed as meter constant.
This meter uses optical-coupler (5kV isolated voltage, 50V DC output, maximum current 50 mA) as energy pulse output. The two feet C and E of optical-coupler hang in the air without external power supply and no protection, so be careful when connecting. The maximum insulation resistance between coupler’s output and other loops of meter is 5 kV, as a result, even if coupler’s output terminal puncture occurs, meter’s metering and other control functions will not be affected.

1.3 Operating principle
The circuit consists of the measuring element which centralizes SOC single chip (inside it including   measuring module, real time clock by crystal and temperature compensation circuit etc.) and modules like measuring and main control circuit, memory circuit (consisting of memory chips), RS232/485 communication circuit, power-supply circuit, cover-opening checking, LCD display and audio reminding of customer infomation, infrared transmission and reception circuit etc. Current sampling adopts bi-circuit measuring anti-tampering way with manganin shunt and current transformer. Voltage sampling adopts resistive divider network. The calibration of meters is completed through software directly.

Connection wire: The connection wire is under the meter terminal block. After connect the wire to the corresponding hole of terminal, please screw down the terminal screws. See below picture. 
Auxiliary terminal connection: RS485 port and pulse output test port is within terminal cover. There are seal screws in the terminal cover that can prevent any illegal connection and other setting.

2.5 Protective class
The test is carried out with the prepayment watt-hour meter manufactured by*******Co., Ltd.in accordance with IEC60529-4. The test results are shown as follows (IP54):

3. Metering function of DDZY482
The meter can measure the reversed energy as forward one, and measure the total active energy & store the data, and also measure the residual credit balance & store the data. Pulse constant and pulse interval are used to measure real time power and output the active check pulse; it is accumulated to total active energy and active consumption of each settlement month.

3.2 Definition of active energy direction
The meter adopts concepts of forward and reversed energy defined from customer’s point of view.
○Customer forward energy= the Power Supply Department’s output energy
○Customer reversed energy= the Power Supply Department’s received energy

4.Function instruction of meter
4.1 Metering function
4.1.1 Measuring total active energy consumption
4.1.2 Reversed energy is calculated as forward one which will be accumulated to total active energy consumption.
4.1.3 Demand calculation method is programmable to be set as slip or interval method;
Demand cycle programmable: 15 minutes, 30 minutes, and 60 minutes available 
Slip window time programmable: available for 1/2/3/5/6/12mins
The demand cycle shall be an integral multiple of (but not more than 15 times) the slip window time.
4.2 Load control function
4.2.1 This meter can be programmed for load control threshold;
4.2.2 If both current demand and current power are not less than the user load control threshold, the overload warning will be triggered (The audio & video warning light flashes). After duration of 5 mins, the meter will cut off user load and add 1 to actual overload power-off times in register, at the same time the “overload power-off” warning will be triggered. (When load threshold is zero, this function is of no use.);
4.2.3 Where the meter powers off for overload, the power supply will be recovered by pressing the button, otherwise the power supply will not be recovered;
4.2.4 If overload trip often happens, the user can visit Power Selling Department to apply for capacity enlargement or other relevant businesses, and then input the digit TOKEN to have the supply recovered.
4.3 Overdraft consumption function
4.3.1 If this meter has set overdraft amount and the residual amount is 0, the overdraft consumption function will be started by pressing any button;
4.3.2 When the overdraft amount is used up, the meter will send out control signal to have load switch cut off.
4.4.Prewarning consumption function
4.4.1 This meter can be programmed for setting user prewarning threshold;
4.4.2 When the meter’s residual amount is equal to prewarning threshold, the meter will start the audio & video warning function in a way of warning light flashing. When prewarning threshold is zero, this function is of no use;
4.4.3 When the residual amount is equal to half of prewarning threshold, the meter will send out power-off signal to have load switch cut off automatically;
4.4.4 Power supply can be recovered by pressing any button, till the residual amount is zero.
4.5 Data display on LCD of meter
1.Power purchase TOKEN is correct. It will be accepted and “accept” will be displayed.
2.Power purchase TOKEN is incorrect. It will be rejected and “reject” will be displayed.
3.When “old” is displayed, it means TOKEN is out of date.
4.When “used” is displayed, it means the TOKEN is a used one.
5.Overload consumption—When consumption load is over the load threshold being set, “over po” will be displayed and the power will be cut off within specified time.
6.It shows that energy consumption is 0.01kWh and displays item code 01
7.It shows that MD in current month is 0.00kW and displays item code 02.
8.It shows the residual energy is 100.00kWh and displays item code 07.
9.It shows meter’s present power is 1.00kW and the display item code is 31.

4.6.Prepayment function
The Power Selling Management System will produce a 20 digits code (generated based on user’s information and purchase amount). After the user input this code via the meter’s keypad, meter will decrypt the code. After passing the encryption authentification, current purchase amount will be written into meter’s memory and added to the residual amount and stored; When overdraft consumption or abnormal consumption happens, the overdraft consumption amount or abnormal consumption amount will be deducted from the purchase amount and the residual amount will be stored in memory that data retention period is more 15 years; When the user is consuming power, the meter will deduct the residual amount gradually according to corresponding conditions. When the power-off condition is met, meter will cut off power supply and when power supply condition is met, meter will connect to user load automatically.
4.6.1 Registration
The ex-factory meter will be registered after the Power Supply Department replaced encryption key system and registered user information. The registration operation assigns numbers and appoints a meter ID number to the user, which realizes one-to-one correspondence between the user and the meter. The initial purchase amount as well as the encryption key and other parameters will be written into the meter.
1.Display of meter’s ID: input “65” through keypad, then press Enter button, the meter will display 11 digits meter ID No. on LCD (in 2 screens) and this No. must be the same as User ID(used for power purchase).
4.6.2 Power purchasing
When the residual amount is insufficient, the customer can visit the power vending office to purchase electricity. At vending office a 20 digits serial number (TOKEN) will be produced based on user information and purchase amount.
Power purchase method:
1)Visit the local power vending office;
2)Provide your meter ID to the operator;
3)Inform the operator the amount you want to buy and pay the bill;
4)Obtain a 20-digits TOKEN printed on your receipt.
4.6.3 Power loading
User will input the 20-digits serial number via meter’s keypad. After passing encryption key authentification, meter will accept purchase amount and adjust the residual amount and cumulative purchase amount and then save the new residual amount into EEPROM. At the same time power amount loaded this time will also be displayed on LCD. 
Input purchase power TOKEN into meter:
1)Key in the 20-digits TOKEN via keypad;
2)Confirm the numbers on LCD;
3)If TOKEN is wrongly input, please use backspace to modify;
4)After inputting all the 20 digits, press Enter to confirm the TOKEN input;
5)If TOKEN is correctly input, LCD will display “accept” and the power amount purchased;
6)If TOKEN is wrongly input, LCD will display “reject”.
4.6.4 Audio warning function
The meter is programmable for setting the duration of audio warning of audio and video warning in minute, up to 99 mins. When the audio & video warning happens, if no any operation by user (pressing button or inserting the card), the audio & video warning will disappear automatically when the duration setting is reached. Where the duration is set to be zero, the meter cannot perform audio & video warning.
4.7 Event recording function
4.7.1 Tamper event detecting and recording
When power-off condition is met and meter will cut the power consumption load switch. If user steals power by short-circuiting the in-line & out-line of meter outside, the meter will detect this tamper event within 5 mins and display “STL”on LCD screen. If the tamper is ongoing for more than 1 min, the meter will add 1 to the tamper times and record the tamper occurrence time. After ending the tamper action, the LCD will not stop displaying “STL” until the tamper event is cleared.
4.7.2 Cover-openning event detecting and recording
When the connection terminal cover of meter is opened, the meter will send out power-off signal to have load switch cut the power automatically. Here power supply cannot be recovered even if the connection terminal cover is fitted, unless the Power Supply Department input the special TOKEN after fitting the connection terminal cover.
4.7.3 Detect other kind events such as memory status, meter error, the time of parameterization, the date of last billing, prepayment events, communication removal, magnetic, neutral bypass, incoming and outgoing lead interchange, etc.
4.8 Meter-reading function
The Power Supply Department can read meter by using Handheld Unit equipped with non-modulating infrared communication interface or COM interface, Lithium battery back-up shelf life is 3 year.
4.9 Infrared communication function
The meter is equipped with non-modulating infrared communication interface, with which time checking and data reading functions etc. of meter will be fulfilled via Handheld Unit.
4.9.1 Time check
The time checking by programming or broadcasting can be carried out with the meter via the communication interface. Programming time check requires access control, and the real time clock can be calibrated to any time (year, month, day, week, hour, min, sec); broadcasting time check can be carried out only once a day and the calibrated time must be within ±5 min of the time clock of the meter, otherwise, the meter will refuse this broadcasting time check, and the Clock power supply is back up.
4.9.2 Meter’s data item reading 
The data items in the meter can be read via the communication interface, including the current power consumption data, the data relevant to current prepayment, the recorded data of the previous 12 months, time clock, and records of various events etc.
4.10 RS232/485 communication function
This meter is equipped with RS485/RS232 communication interface. It can realize meter’s data item reading and time checking of meter via the Handheld Unit with RS485/RS232 communication interface.
RS232/485 communication function is optional, but only one. Please note down your requirements when placing an order.
4.10.1 Time check
The time checking by programming or broadcasting can be carried out with the meter via the communication interface. Programming time check requires access control, and the real time clock can be calibrated to any time (year, month, day, week, hour, min, sec); broadcasting time check can be carried out only once a day and the calibrated time must be within ±5 min of the time clock of the meter, otherwise, the meter will refuse this broadcasting time check.
4.10.2 Meter’s data item reading 
The data items in the meter can be read via the communication interface, including current power consumption data, the data relevant to the current prepayment, the recorded data of the previous 12 months, time clock, and all the data items and records of various events, etc.
4.11 GPRS operation
Support Two way communication, DLMS/COSEM or equivalent compliant protocol, Scalable to other kind communication module such as GPRS,PLC,WIFI,WAN/LAN, fibre optical ,Ethernet etc, support hot swappable communication, modules support last gasp mechanism, support manual meter reading.
(1)Open the cover and remove the GPRS module
Open the energy meter of the end cover and key cover, please note that the power meter in the case of power, do not touch the electrical part of the electric energy meter。
(2)Insert the SIM card
(3)Online
The GPRS module will be installed SIM card installed back to table, and cover the key cover, to meter electricity, need to wait for about 2 minutes, power meter line, and then master the meter reading. Note: before you go online, you need to ensure that the correct APN parameters are set.
4.12 Self-test
The meter has a self-test function. It can test LCD and relay etc. and report the results directly of indirectly.

4.14 Data item enquiry
4.14.1 Data item enquiry
1.Input data item number in 2 digits on number pad of meter (see 4.14.3 Data item number table of meter), and then press “Enter”. The information of corresponding data item will be displayed.
2.“NULL” will be displayed if the data item content is blank.
4.15 Function of data item display
4.15.1 LCD display introduction
After power-on, the meter will carry out initialization. LCD displays in full screen. and one second later enter the intended power consumption information display mode (the meter is configured by manufacturer when ex-factory.). LCD display in full screen as below:

4.15.1.1 Data display: 6 integers +2 decimals (real time power and MD display is in 4 decimals) Energy unit is kWh. Active power unit is kW.
4.15.1.2 Display number:Number in 2 digits is used to show corresponding data item (For details refer to 4.14.3 Data item number table of meter)
4.15.1.3 Tamper indication:Indicates that the meter is in reversed consumption or tamper status. Handle it promptly.
4.15.2 Meter data display
Data items displayed:Energy consumption data, configuration data and historical data etc.
4.15.2.For data item which is displayed in length of over 8 digits (such as date & time, meter No. and user ID etc.) Meter will automatically display the data on two screens.
4.15.2.2The residual energy will be displayed in a way of data item as well as in bars on LCD. (When residual energy inside meter<1 kWh, no bar will be displayed; When 1kWh≤residual energy<10 kWh, the first bar will be displayed; When 10 kWh≤residual energy<100 kWh, the first and second bar will be displayed; When 100 kWh≤residual energy<1000 kWh, the first, second and third bar will be displayed; When residual energy≥1000 kWh, all the four bars will be displayed.

6. Installation and operation instruction of meter
6.1Summary
1.The following are the technical requirements for the personnel to install and adjust the meter.
2.Trained with the specialized technology involved.
3.Understand and follow strictly the universal safety regulations and the SAFETY requirements      described in the beginning of this Operation Instruction
4.Before carrying out any work ensure the required material and tools are prepared. (See 6.2 Materials and Tools).

6.3 Attention to installation
A.Before connection, check the phase-line and neutral-line (ground) are in accordance with those in the connection diagram etched on the connection terminal cover. Copper wire or copper joint is preferred.
B.If the cable to be used is an old one, cut off the end of the cable, and leave 26mm wire exposed for connection; If the cable’s diameter is within the range of 3mm-6.5mm, connect it into the movable terminal directly and ensure it is secured. If the cable’s diameter is less than 3mm, apply a properly sized copper or aluminum bush to clamp the cable’s end in order to avoid the damage to connection terminal resulted from the connection in bad contact.
C.Loosen the two screws of each movable terminal first of all. Insert the in-line of phase-line into the end of movable terminal of hole 1, then insert the in-line of neutral-line into the end of movable terminal hole 3, and tight the two screws of each movable terminal. In the same way, insert the out-line of phase-line into the end of movable terminal of hole 2, then insert the out-line of neutral-line into the end of the movable terminal of hole 4, and tight the two screws of each movable terminal to ensure they are secured and in good contact.  
D.If the connection is completed and correct, fit the terminal cover, and then.have it sealed with special seal of Power Supply Company.
E.Check meter’s working condition when applying power to it. If normal, record the reading of meter. Otherwise check if the installation and connection and operation voltage are normal.
F.Handle with care to prevent from dropping and bumping during installation of meter.
G.Install meter carefully with attention to the power security to prevent from accident.
7.Transport & Storage
The product shall be transported and stored according to the related rules. No intense impact to the product is allowable during transportation and unpacking.
The product shall be stored in a clean place where the ventilation is good, the ambient temperature is -35℃~70℃, and the relative humidity is not more than 100%, and no corrosive gas or harmful material is present. Natural ventilation is good.
The product shall be stored on shelf in a warehouse and the stacking height shall be not more than 8 layers.
8.Warranty
Manufacturer warrants its products against defective parts and workmanship and with no seal damaged within the warranty period specified in sales contract. The manufacturer will repair or replace free of charge any meters which do not comply with the requirements of technical specifications under proper use as per the manual.
9.Trouble shooting
The meter features self-test. If the following information is found on the LCD, or the self-test information displayed on LCD is abnormal (e.g. character missing or character incomplete etc.), contact the manufacturer for advice.
